Chicago Migraine Headache Help

What is the cause of migraine

This site is called Chicago Migraine Headaches as that’s where I’m living – but let’s face it, a migraine’s a migraine wherever you are –I wanted to share my experiences with you and let you know how I managed to get rid of migraines for good.

If you’re a migraine sufferer, you know a migraine is more than just a bad headache – and it won’t go away with a couple of asprin.

Migraine sufferers are often lumped in with people who say they have a migraine when in fact what they have is a bad headache. So what’s the difference?

What is a migraine and what are the causes of migraine?

The symptoms of a migraine vary between individuals, but usually consist of some of the following: Upset vision, blind spots or zig-zag lines, a feeling of sickness or nausea,  a headache, which often effects only one side of the head but not always. The pain can is often severe. I have often described the headache as feeling as though I’ve been hit over the head with a hammer. Other symptoms people report include a dislike of loud noise and bright lights.

Another strange symptom I have suffered is problems in thinking clearly during a migraine attack – not being able to remember the names of people or even simple everyday objects.
Symptoms can last from 1 to 12 hours for the majority of sufferers, although some people take a few days to recover.

Like many others I usually head straight for a dark room as soon as I feel a migraine coming on. People fail to see why you can’t just carry on with a ‘headache’. If only they knew how bad it felt.
There are basically two types of migraine – classic which features the aura or distortion in vision, and common migraine which doesn’t. Migraine occurs more frequently in women with 1 in 4 women effected – only around one in twelve men suffer.

Frequency of attacks may vary from a couple a week to just a couple of times a year.
The causes of migraine headache are not fully understood even after many years of research, however it is believed to be connected to a series of triggers. It may well be that one trigger isn’t enough – a combination may be needed to cause an attack to start. I find that hunger along with severe stress is usually the starting point. Others blame noise, bright lights, red wine, chocolate, cheese or even bananas!

I can judge when a migraine is going to start from a blind spot appearing in my field of vision. Once this ‘aura’ starts and I see zig zag lines, that’s it. Get myself to bed in a nice dark room fast. My aura usually lasts for about half an hour – then I’m left with the headache from hell.

Well things have changed for me now.

I took various different pills for many years – paracetamol, migraleve, imigran amongst others.
I stopped taking these as I found that I felt much rougher for a couple of days after. It was like waking up after a fight with Mike Tyson.

Last year I came across Chris Holmes’ web site which offered a natural cure once and for all. I won’t waste time giving you a sales message, all I’ll say is it worked for me and you should take a look. Click here to see what I found, you will be glad you did.
